Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: As the Gaza war continues and thousands of Palestinians have been sacrificed, Israeli Army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir thanked the US for its military support and strategic cooperation with Israel in an official statement today, Monday.

 

In a meeting with Michael Korella, former commander of CENTCOM (US Central Command in the Middle East) in Tel Aviv, Zamir appreciated his role in strengthening joint cooperation and US support during Operation Iron Sword. Korella has been the commander of CENTCOM since 2022 and handed over the responsibility to Brad Cooper last week.

 

This support includes extensive military aid, the development of air infrastructure, the deployment of special forces, and the strengthening of the Israeli regime’s defense systems. According to the Haaretz newspaper, the United States has built more than 20 military bases in occupied Palestine under multi-year agreements, the value of which is estimated at about $1.5 billion.

 

Despite this military support, the role of the United States as a mediator in the conflict between the Israeli regime and Palestinian groups has faced serious challenges. The Israeli army has so far killed more than 61,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in the Gaza war and injured or displaced hundreds of thousands more.
