It defeated Hitler before, and we played a role in that victory. Russia also defeated Napoleon." He emphasized that "the strength and perseverance of the Russians is the reason for their continued presence on the battlefields."
The US President also called Putin's decision to travel to Alaska and meet with him "respectable", saying: "It is a respectful act that the Russian President is coming to our country, instead of us going to his country or some third place."
