A representative of the Iraqi parliament, revealing new dimensions of US and UK interference in the country's internal affairs, warned that Washington is using its extensive influence in the oil sector to put the Iraqi government under economic and political pressure to advance its interests at the cost of harming the country's national sovereignty.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): "Rafiq al-Salihi", a representative affiliated with the Sadequn faction in the Iraqi parliament, in a harsh speech against US and UK policies, accused the two countries of continuing to interfere and abuse Iraq's oil resources.

He stated: "The US is not satisfied with only the economic aspect of Iraq's oil sector, but is using this leverage to impose its political demands and put pressure on the government."

Al-Salihi added: Washington has designed its influence in a way that not only serves the interests of the United States, but also actually leads to the weakening of Iraq's national sovereignty and independence.

According to the MP, Britain has also moved in line with the United States in this process and is seeking to consolidate its influence in Iraq's economic and political structures.

These statements come at a time when in recent months a wave of public and political criticism and protests has emerged in Iraq regarding the continued presence and interventions of the United States and its allies in the country.
