Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that the foreign ministers of three European countries and the head of the European Union's foreign policy, in a phone call with Araqchi, announced their intention to officially inform the Security Council to begin the process of resolving the dispute in the JCPOA.
In a phone conversation, the Iranian Foreign Minister, recalling Iran's responsible and good-faith performance in adhering to diplomacy to resolve issues related to the nuclear issue, stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond appropriately to this illegal and unjustified action of the three European countries in order to protect and secure its national rights and interests.
Emphasizing Iran's seriousness in defending its legal interests and rights in accordance with international law and the Non-Proliferation Treaty, Araghchi expressed hope that the three European countries would take a responsible approach and understand the existing realities and appropriately correct this wrong move in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the French Foreign Minister announced that, together with the Foreign Ministers of Germany and Britain, they had informed the Security Council of Iran's non-compliance with the JCPOA commitments and had activated the snapback process.
He added that this action does not mean the end of diplomacy and its goal is to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
The German Foreign Minister also said that the return of sanctions is not the end of diplomacy and could be the beginning of a new phase of negotiations.
France, Germany and Britain have sent a letter to the Security Council and announced that they have activated the snapback mechanism to re-impose sanctions.
It is said that these countries also emphasized their readiness to find a diplomatic solution within the next 30 days to prevent the return of Security Council sanctions.
