UN Security Council to hold meeting on Afghanistan

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: This meeting will be the last opportunity for Rosa Otunbayeva, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the UNAMA Mission, to present a report before the end of her mission.

 

According to the independent analytical organization Security Council Report, in addition to Otunbayeva, a civil society representative and Volker Turk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, will also speak at the meeting. After the public meeting, closed consultations are also planned to examine in more depth issues related to Afghanistan.

 

This meeting is being held at a time when the humanitarian crisis and the continuation of aid and the return of refugees could be among the most important topics discussed.
