Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: According to a report by the Hebrew-language newspaper Yedioth Aharonot, since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, 900 Israeli soldiers have been killed and 6,213 others have been injured. Of these, 114 members of the Golani Brigade have died, 71 of whom were killed on the first day of the war alone at border positions with Gaza.
The report adds that the 13th and 51st battalions of the Golani Brigade have suffered the most casualties. Other IDF units, including the Gifat Brigade (70 killed), Nahal (61 killed), Kfir (35 killed), and armored units (118 killed), have also suffered significant damage.
Meanwhile, Israeli media outlets have reported significant discrepancies between official military figures and hospital figures. The Haaretz newspaper and Channel 12 television reported that some 19,000 soldiers were injured during the war, with more than 10,000 suffering from mental health problems.
Military analysts believe that the strict censorship of information is aimed at controlling public opinion and preventing demoralization of the army; however, the Golan Brigade, once considered one of the elite units of the IDF, has now become a symbol of the army’s vulnerability to Palestinian resistance, with the highest casualties.
