Establishing Diplomatic Relations between Pakistan and Armenia
The Foreign Ministers of Pakistan and Armenia signed an agreement to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in China.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: During the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit held in Tianjin, China, Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan signed an agreement to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries during an official meeting.

The agreement came after a recent telephone call between the two ministers and is considered an important step towards economic, cultural and educational cooperation between Islamabad and Yerevan. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry announced in a statement that the two sides emphasized the principles of the United Nations Charter and called for cooperation in international forums.

Previously, Pakistan did not have official relations with Armenia and supported the positions of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Karabakh conflict. This diplomatic development comes a few weeks after the signing of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan at the White House.
