Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: According to the press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran; Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, in a phone conversation with Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressed Iran's condolences and sympathy to the families of those who died in the severe earthquake in eastern Afghanistan and prayed to God for the health and recovery of the injured and affected by the incident.
The press release added; Araqchi, referring to the sending of about 200 tons of humanitarian aid from Iran, announced Iran's readiness to provide other necessary assistance in the relief and rescue process. He emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran stands by the people of Afghanistan and is ready to provide further cooperation in humanitarian and relief fields.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry added; The Afghan Foreign Minister, while presenting a report on the extent of the damage, also appreciated the messages of condolence and sympathy from the Iranian government and people, as well as the assistance provided by the Islamic Republic of Iran Red Crescent Society to the earthquake victims. He considered these measures comforting and effective in reducing the suffering of the Afghan people.
It is worth noting that an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale on (31 August 2025) shook the Hindu Kush mountain range in the east of the country. According to reports, the number of victims of this incident has so far been announced as more than 2,200 people, and relief and rescue operations are still ongoing.
