The Lebanese cabinet welcomed the plan prepared by the country’s army to implement the government’s arms control monopoly and its successive stages, but decided to keep its content confidential. However, it pointed out that the army will begin implementing it within the framework of its existing capabilities.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)-International Service: In its Friday meeting minutes dedicated to discussing the plan and read by Information Minister Pol Marqes, the government stated that the army command will submit a monthly report to the Council of Ministers on the progress of implementing the plan.
The cabinet also confirmed its commitment to “preparing a national security strategy, within the framework of achieving the principle of expanding the government’s control over all its territories and limiting arms control.”
According to Al-Mayadeen, after reading the decisions of the meeting, Pol Marqes said in response to questions from reporters that the army will begin implementing the plan based on available resources.
He noted that the army would act within its plans for the August 5 meeting, but “has operational discretion.”
Morgues noted that the army commander outlined the limitations on the plan’s implementation, the most important of which is Israeli attacks.
“This plan is ultimately military, not political, and the government has already made its decisions,” he continued.
The Lebanese prime minister had stressed at the beginning of the meeting that no investment or reconstruction would take place unless security was guaranteed and weapons were confiscated.
The cabinet meeting began with the departure of ministers from Hezbollah and Amal, as well as Fadi Makki, the fifth Shiite minister, after the arrival of Army Commander Rudolf Heikal to discuss the plan.
Regarding the withdrawal, Morgues said: “The ministers left the meeting but did not leave the government, and “we will see them in the coming days.”
Regarding the US document, the cabinet stated that it was developed based on continuous steps by all parties and its implementation is subject to the consent of the relevant parties.
The cabinet added that Lebanon had approved the objectives of the document and prepared the army plan, but the Israeli side had not taken reciprocal steps.
The cabinet stressed that “Israeli behavior demonstrates the lack of any real intention to adhere to the ceasefire and undermines stabilization efforts,” and that the continued violation of the ceasefire by the Zionist regime poses serious risks to regional security and stability.
The cabinet continued: “Any progress in the implementation of the document sent by the US is subject to the commitment of the Israeli side.”
The Lebanese cabinet also stated that Beirut has not and will not make concessions to Israel.
The Lebanese cabinet approved the objectives of the US document in a meeting on August 7, after ministers from the Amal Movement, Hezbollah, and Minister Makki left the meeting.
Earlier, an American official sent a message to the Lebanese government, saying that if it did not quickly initiate a plan to confiscate the weapons, time was running out.
