The media reported that, in continuation of the regional diplomatic movements, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati met with US Special Envoy for West Asia Steve Whittaker to discuss developments in the Iranian nuclear file and the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Abdel Ati announced Egypt's efforts to create suitable conditions for the resumption of Iran-US talks in this meeting, emphasizing that the goal of these consultations is to bring perspectives closer, reduce tensions, restore trust, and reach a lasting agreement that takes into account the interests of all parties and contributes to regional security and stability.

It is said that the two sides also discussed the proposed ceasefire in Gaza. Abdel Ati emphasized the need for Israel to respond positively to the proposed plan, stop the bloodshed, allow humanitarian aid to enter, and release Palestinian prisoners.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the humanitarian situation in Gaza was rapidly deteriorating and had reached the point of famine. Abdel Ati warned that using hunger as a weapon would have dangerous consequences for regional stability.

According to ISNA, the Egyptian Foreign Minister also briefed the US envoy on Cairo’s preparations to host an international conference on the early reconstruction of Gaza after the ceasefire was announced. The conference will be held in Cairo in accordance with the Arab-Islamic plan approved by the Arab summit last March.

Egypt and Qatar, as the main mediators in the ceasefire and prisoner exchange talks, presented a joint plan about two weeks ago. While Hamas has agreed to the plan, Israel has not yet given an official response.
