The Afghan Embassy in Russia has announced that the country's delegation, headed by the Director General of the National Environmental Protection Agency, attended the international meeting of the "East Economic Forum 2025" in Moscow and discussed expanding development cooperation and strengthening regional relations.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) – Kabul: The press office of the Afghan Embassy in Russia reported that Maulvi Gul Hassan Hassan, Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate in Moscow, and the Afghan delegation, headed by Maulvi Mati-ul-Haq Khalis, Director General of the National Environmental Protection Agency, participated in the meeting.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and high-ranking officials from various countries emphasized the importance of economic development, regional cooperation, and strengthening trade ties in their speeches.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Afghan delegation met and held talks with Alexei Ovcherchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, and a number of Afghan students and experts residing in Moscow.

The delegation had traveled to Moscow a few days ago at the official invitation of the Russian government to participate in specialized meetings and economic and environmental seminars.

According to Russian news sources, the main focus of the forum was on energy cooperation, green infrastructure, and trade and investment projects in East Asia and Eurasia. The Afghan delegation, in addition to presenting a report on the country’s environmental capacities and natural resources, also presented proposals for investment in clean projects and sustainable development.

According to experts, the presence of the Afghan delegation in this meeting is an opportunity to introduce the country’s capacities in the environmental sector and attract regional investments. Studies show that this type of partnership can strengthen the country’s economic and diplomatic relations with countries in the region. Observers say that continuing economic and environmental interactions with neighboring countries and the region is vital for sustainable development and natural resource management.
