Afghanistan, Turkmenistan emphasize development of energy cooperation; TAP and TAPI projects focus on talks
During the joint meeting between senior Afghan and Turkmen officials, the two sides stressed on strengthening bilateral relations and accelerating the implementation of strategic energy projects. The meeting was attended by the energy ministers of the two countries, the Turkmen ambassador to Kabul and the head of the international TAP project.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: According to the Ministry of Energy and Water, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour, Minister of Energy and Water, met with Turkmen Energy Minister Anna Gildi Sprov, TAP Project Director Murad Artikov and Turkmen Ambassador Khaja Ozuf.
 
The main focus of the meeting is to discuss ways to expand cooperation in the fields of: transmission of 1,000 MW of electricity from Turkmenistan to Kabul, acceleration of the implementation of the Top 500 power transmission project and cooperation in the implementation of the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) project.
 
The Minister of Energy pointed to the history of good relations between the two countries and stressed the Islamic Emirate's full commitment to coordinate and implement development projects in the fields of energy and water.
 
At the meeting, the Turkmen Energy Minister also expressed his sympathy to the people of Afghanistan over the recent earthquake in the eastern provinces of the country, and expressed his country's full readiness to advance the agreed projects, saying: "The preliminary works of the international TAP power transmission project are progressing well."
