The Department of Public Works of Samangan Province announced that the construction of two retaining walls on the Samangan-Balkh highway has begun. The project aims to prevent landslides and damage caused by floods, and is being implemented with a budget of 21 million and 237 thousand Afghanis.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)-Mazar-e-Sharif: Maulvi Matiullah Abid, Director of Public Works of Samangan, said: “These walls will be built at sensitive points on the highway, including Tashqarghan Strait and Golay Sayyad in Khulm district, and will include 180 meters of wall with a width of 7.28 meters.”
He added that the project will be completed within a month and will play an important role in maintaining the road and ensuring traffic security.
A number of drivers on this route have also welcomed the start of the project, saying that in the spring and winter seasons, passing through these areas was very dangerous due to landslides and floods.
