The High Commission for Refugee Affairs (HCR) said that nearly 16,000 migrants returned to Afghanistan through transit routes from Pakistan and Iran on Sunday and received assistance worth more than 30 million Afghanis.

A total of 8,510 Afghan migrants have returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan through Torkham in Nangarhar province, Spin Boldak in Kandahar province and Bahramche (the hypothetical Durand Line) in Paktika province in the past day, the Afghan National Commission said on Monday.
In the same period, 7,324 Afghan migrants entered the country from Iran through the Islam Qala checkpoint in Herat province and the Silk Road in Nimroz province.
The High Commission for Refugee Affairs added that 6,469 refugees were relocated to their home areas free of charge during this period.
According to the commission, 2,405 migrant families received cash assistance and 1,678 SIM cards were distributed among migrants.
The total value of the assistance provided to the returnees is 30 million 954 thousand 570 Afghanis.
More aid is now being mobilized to help the earthquake victims in eastern Afghanistan. Despite calls to stop the deportation of migrants after the earthquake, the process of return and deportation continues.
Pakistan has decided to deport one million migrants, and Iranian officials have said 800,000 migrants should leave by the end of the year.
According to the United Nations, more than 2.3 million migrants have been deported from Pakistan and Iran and returned to Afghanistan this year.
