First meat export from Afghanistan; Balkh state slaughterhouse starts new economic path
The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock announced that for the first time, the process of exporting meat from Afghanistan has begun on a trial basis from the state slaughterhouse in Balkh province.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock announced today (Saturday, September 13) in a press release that, by order of the leadership of the ministry, the process of exporting meat from the country has begun on a trial basis from the state slaughterhouse in Balkh province.

At the opening ceremony of this project, Mufti Zakirullah Zakir, Director General of Livestock and Animal Health of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, in the presence of advisors to the ministry and a number of Emirati officials and traders, officially started this process.

Officials of the Ministry of Agriculture announced that the Balkh state slaughterhouse and other slaughterhouses in the country are ready to slaughter animals and prepare their meat for export based on the established standards.

Private companies can also export small ruminant meat (goats and sheep) from Afghanistan to other countries based on specified criteria.

Studies show that the Balkh State Slaughterhouse and other slaughterhouses in the country have improved the slaughtering and preparation of meat for export by using strict health criteria and international standards.

These measures include proper packaging, quality control, and compliance with animal health standards so that the exported meat meets global standards and foreign markets gain the necessary trust. Implementing these protocols can pave the way for the sustainable development of the meat industry and strengthen the trust of international traders in Afghan products.

According to experts, the start of meat exports from Afghanistan can be an important step towards the country's economic development and increase national income. This measure will not only help create new markets for livestock products, but can also create jobs and strengthen the agricultural and livestock sectors in the country.
