Russia: Snapback is null and void
The Russian Permanent Representative to the Vienna-based International Organizations called the return of UN sanctions against Iran through snapback null and void.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Mikhail Ulyanov, the Russian Permanent Representative to the Vienna-based International Organizations, wrote on his X-network account in response to the activation of the trigger mechanism by the European Troika, that France, Germany and the UK claim that the snapback mechanism has been successfully implemented. However, the relevant process has been grossly violated by the three European countries, and therefore Russia has every reason to believe that the snapback is null and void.

On September 27, the European Troika, despite the unilateral withdrawal of the United States from the JCPOA, blamed Iran and activated the trigger mechanism (snapback). With the activation of this mechanism, UN sanctions against Iran returned. However, some countries, including China and Russia, have called this practice unacceptable and have emphasized the lack of recognition of these sanctions.

These three countries have called for the return of sanctions even though Tehran has fulfilled all its obligations under the JCPOA and it was the United States that withdrew from the agreement.
