Pope criticizes Trump
The world's Catholic leader strongly criticized the way the US government, led by Donald Trump, treats immigrants, calling this treatment inhumane.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: According to the "Day Sight" magazine, Pope Leo XIV, in response to the US government's policies on immigrants, expressed doubts about whether such treatment is consistent with the Catholic Church's position in supporting life and protecting human life.

The Pope told reporters in front of his residence in Castel Gandolfo:
"If someone declares that they are against abortion, but at the same time agrees with the inhumane treatment of immigrants in the US, I don't know if this person is really pro-life. The slogan "pro-life" is often raised by anti-abortion activists."

Since Donald Trump returned to power, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has intensified its crackdown on illegal immigrants, leading to widespread protests.

However, the Pope also supported Trump's peace plan for the Gaza Strip in another part of his speech, calling it a realistic proposal. He said:
"There are very interesting elements in the plan and I hope that the Hamas resistance movement will agree to it within the deadline."

Trump proposed on Monday the formation of a Gaza Peace Council, which he plans to chair.

According to Tasnim, Pope Leo also said about recent statements by US Defense Secretary Pete Hext about preparing for war and the possible use of nuclear weapons:
"This kind of rhetoric is worrying and shows that tensions are increasing day by day."

Hext's remarks in the presence of Trump and US military officials on Tuesday caused a lot of reactions. The US Secretary of Defense declared that the mission of the newly established Department of War is to fight, prepare for war, and win.

Democratic Senator Tommy Duckworth, a US veteran, called for Hexett's resignation following these remarks.
