Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The 33rd exhibition of agricultural and livestock products organized by the ministry under the slogan "Investment in Afghanistan's agriculture and livestock sectors is a sure path to economic growth and development in the country," the press office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock said in a statement on Thursday. Kabul's Badam Bagh Research Institute was inaugurated.
The exhibition was attended by Maulvi Ataullah Omari, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour, Minister of Energy and Water, Deputies of the Ministries of Agriculture, Economy and Higher Education, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Afghanistan, Head of TIKA, diplomats of the Uzbek Embassy, Head of Dakar, hundreds of businessmen, entrepreneurs and officials of various institutions.

In his speech, the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock said the purpose of the exhibition was to introduce the country's agricultural and livestock achievements and said that the Islamic Emirate's focus on the development of agriculture and livestock has increased production and self-sufficiency in the food sector.
"Afghanistan's products are world-class in terms of quality and the country's natural capacities are better than many countries," he added.
He also mentioned building cold storages, surveying pastures, encouraging private investment and increasing wheat production to five million metric tons a year.
Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour, Minister of Energy and Water, said security and agriculture were two key factors for the country's development and urged people to pay serious attention to the proper use of water resources.
Maulvi Prime Minister Osmani, deputy minister of agriculture and livestock, also called the exhibition an opportunity to establish contacts between farmers, livestock breeders, private companies and the people.
Maulvi Baz Mohammad Faizan, Deputy Minister of Irrigation and Natural Resources of the Ministry of Agriculture, also stressed on mechanization of agriculture and provision of modern machinery.
Mullah Aghajan Salim, deputy finance and administration minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, said the aim of the exhibition was to market and introduce domestic products, adding that supporting Afghan products would provide economic growth and create job opportunities.
Abdul Latif Nazari, Deputy Minister of Economy, also highlighted the value of the exhibition in introducing and marketing domestic products and stressed on standardization in processing, packaging and export.
The exhibition will run from May 9 to 12 and will feature 263 booths of agricultural, livestock and women's handicrafts, including 56 booths dedicated to women's handicrafts.
It is worth mentioning that video reports and interviews from the participants of the exhibition will be published later.
