Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: In a television interview, Dr. Ali Larijani analyzed the US presence in the region and especially Trump's attempt to occupy Bagram base and stated that the period of responding to Washington's unilateral policies has ended.
In part of his speech, he referred to US President Donald Trump's statements regarding Bagram air base and recalled the Islamic Emirate's decisive response. Larijani said: “The Taliban’s (Islamic Emirate) response to Trump’s request to return to Bagram means that America’s bullying in the region will not work and will be costly for it.”
Citing the statements of the Islamic Emirate’s Foreign Minister, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council emphasized that they have explicitly stated: “We will not give even a single inch of Afghan soil to America.”
Larijani called America’s attempt to return to Bagram a “serious dispute” between the Islamic Emirate and the United States, and emphasized that the Islamic Emirate’s position in this regard is completely “natural,” because Bagram is located on Afghan soil and it is not logical for America to want to retake this base without the permission of the established government.
In the end, Larijani described America's excesses in the region as "costly" for this country and addressed the American people in a critical tone: "The American people must decide for themselves, do they want to constantly hold funerals for their children? Well, let them come and fight in these countries..." He considered the American military presence to be the cause of increasing casualties and human costs for Washington in the region.
