The Moscow Format on Afghanistan is scheduled to be held on October 7, 2025 with representatives from India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a news conference on Thursday that a delegation from Belarus had also been invited as a special guest to the meeting.
The Moscow Format is a regional consultative framework aimed at reviewing the security, political and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan following the recent developments and the formation of the Islamic Emirate.
The Moscow-format meeting, chaired by Lavrov and held in private, includes senior representatives from Afghanistan, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, with Belarus invited as a guest.
According to the official statement, the main focus of the meeting will be on promoting national reconciliation in Afghanistan and expanding practical cooperation between the countries of the region and Kabul in the political, economic, fight against terrorism and drugs fields.
