Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Bamyan: Taqi, one of these children, says that he lives in a family of 10 members and his father earns less than 50 Afghanis a day with a hand-pulled drum. He collects potato waste every day to be able to contribute to meeting his family's needs.
Abdullah, another child, stated that he is the breadwinner of a family of 8 because his father is old and unable to work. He is also forced to collect potato waste and do hard work because there is no suitable job for him.
Meanwhile, Qari Zainullah Masroor, the head of labor and social affairs of Bamyan Province, announced in an interview with AVA that 62 child laborers have been identified in the province so far. He added that because these children are the breadwinners of their families and no aid organization has been found to support them, it has not been possible to collect and introduce them to orphanages.
He emphasized that if the supporting organizations support and the economic problems of these children are resolved, they will be introduced to orphanages so that they can enjoy better conditions.
