Bahrami: Foreign military presence in Afghanistan is a factor in the spread of extremism; economic cooperation and organizing refugees are on the agenda of Tehran and Kabul
On the sidelines of the seventh "Moscow Structure" meeting, Mohammad Reza Bahrami, Director General for South Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, referring to the consequences of the foreign military presence in Afghanistan, said: "This presence not only caused instability in the country, but also strengthened extremist groups, created security threats for regional countries, and led to widespread difficulties for the people of Afghanistan and its neighbors."
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The Director General for South Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran explained the views of the Islamic Republic of Iran on developments in Afghanistan and regional cooperation on the sidelines of the Moscow format meeting.
 
Referring to the consequences of the foreign military presence in Afghanistan, he said: "This presence not only led to instability in the country, but also strengthened extremist groups, created security threats for regional countries, and led to widespread difficulties for the people of Afghanistan and its neighbors."
 
Bahrami also announced the early visit of the Iranian Minister of Agriculture to Afghanistan and announced that this visit would be carried out within the framework of the meeting of the Bilateral Economic Commission between the two countries. He considered this visit a sign of the continuation of dialogue and deepening economic cooperation in various fields.
 
In another part of his speech, the senior Iranian diplomat emphasized the need to legally organize the residence of foreign citizens in Iran, including Afghan refugees. He said: "Iran is regulating and legalizing the residence status of refugees and supports the voluntary return of Afghans to their country. This area can pave the way for constructive cooperation between Tehran and Kabul."
 
Bahrami also considered the role of the "Moscow Structure" meeting important in converging regional views on Afghanistan, adding: "This dialogue mechanism can increase cooperation between regional countries to confront common challenges and help resolve Afghan issues."
