Muttaqi: Russia's Action to Recognize the Islamic Emirate is a Historic Development in Relations Between the Two Countries

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)-Kabul: In this meeting, Mottaqi conveyed the gratitude of the Leader of the Islamic Emirate and the Prime Minister to the Russian leadership, adding: "Moscow's actions in removing the name of the Afghan government from the list of banned organizations, accepting the ambassador, and supporting Afghanistan's position in international arenas deserve the highest praise and will have a positive impact on Afghanistan's integration into the international community, economic development, and political stability."

 

He also emphasized the importance of joint cooperation in the fight against drugs, the implementation of economic projects and the development of transport corridors, saying: “We can start real joint work in various fields.”

 

In contrast, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, while welcoming the Afghan government’s commitment to stabilizing the domestic situation and its successes in combating terrorism and drug trafficking, announced his country’s readiness to assist Kabul in these areas.

 

Lavrov added: “The official recognition of the Islamic Emirate has provided unprecedented opportunities for political, economic and international cooperation between Kabul and Moscow.” He also considered the efforts of the Islamic Emirate to ensure security and its independent position to be in the interest of regional stability.

 

It is worth noting that the Moscow format meeting hosted a representative of the Islamic Emirate for the first time. On the sidelines of this meeting, meetings were held between the foreign ministers of the countries and representatives of other countries, including the Russian Foreign Minister.
