Zelensky: Gaza ceasefire agreement showed that the war in Ukraine can also be stopped

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced his "very positive and fruitful" telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump in a message on the X social network. He described the recent agreement between Hamas and the Israeli regime on a ceasefire in Gaza, which was brokered by the US, as an "important achievement" and said that this success showed that other wars, including the war in Ukraine, can also be stopped.

 

According to this agreement, the first phase of the ceasefire includes the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, the resumption of humanitarian aid, and the exchange of prisoners between the parties.

 

Zelensky also referred to Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and thanked Trump for his support in this regard. He said they had discussed strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and related agreements, and that there were good options and ideas for strengthening his country’s defense.

 

The Ukrainian president has also discussed his request to receive long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles from the United States, although the final outcome of these negotiations is still unclear. This comes at a time when Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that providing these missiles to Ukraine could lead to the destruction of US-Russian relations.

 

Zelensky went on to emphasize that Russia must be ready to engage in real diplomacy, and that this can only be done through force.

 

Axios also reported that discussions on sending Tomahawk missiles are ongoing, but no final decision has been made yet.
