Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The Egyptian presidential office announced this afternoon (Monday) that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will attend the Sharm el-Sheikh summit in Egypt today.
The Egyptian presidency announced this news after Donald Trump spoke with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in a phone call in the presence of Netanyahu, and in this call, it was agreed that Mahmoud Abbas and Netanyahu would also attend the summit.
Egypt will hold a special meeting today in the coastal city of Sharm el-Sheikh to discuss the prospects for ending the war in Gaza, a ceasefire and rebuilding the region, which will be chaired by US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Palestinian sources have reported that Mahmoud Abbas has left Ramallah by helicopter for Jordan, from where he will travel to Egypt to attend the Sharm el-Sheikh meeting.
This is while yesterday, the Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed newspaper reported, citing a Palestinian source, that the Egyptian presidency had not sent an invitation to Mahmoud Abbas.
Israeli sources had also reported in recent days that Netanyahu's presence at the Sharm el-Sheikh meeting was not certain and that he would probably not attend.
