Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Maulvi Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, issued a statement expressing deep regret over the recent attacks by the Pakistani army on protesting members of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan party, expressing sympathy with the families of the victims of these incidents and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
In this statement, the spokesman for the Islamic Emirate directly called on the Pakistani government to refrain from using violence against its people and instead, try to resolve issues and differences through channels of dialogue and understanding.
The violence came as protesters from the Tehreek-e-Labbaik party planned to continue their protests, which they say were legal under Pakistani law, to the country’s capital, Islamabad.
Tehreek-e-Labbaik leaders told the media that police opened fire on protesters, killing 13, injuring more than 150 and arresting 700 others.
The protests began in support of the people of Gaza, but were suppressed by police and turned violent before reaching the US embassy in Islamabad.
