Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Today, Wednesday (October 15), the sound of a massive explosion shook the air in the 15th district of Kabul. Eyewitnesses reported columns of smoke rising in the sky and the windows of houses shaking violently.
According to a resident of Chahar Taimani Street, moments before the explosion, a sound similar to a missile passing through the sky was heard and then an object hit the street. These accounts have not yet been confirmed by official Taliban sources, but they have added to public concerns.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Taliban on X, announced that the explosion was caused by a fire in an oil tanker and was not of a terrorist nature. Khalid Zadran, a spokesman for the Taliban police in Kabul, also said in a message: “An oil tanker exploded near Kabul city and caused a fire; there is no need to worry.”
According to local sources, fire and security forces have been dispatched to the scene and are trying to contain the flames, and traffic routes around the scene have been restricted to ensure the safety of the people.
It is not yet clear whether the explosion in District 15 is related to the same oil tanker or a separate incident.
Some reports indicate limited destruction of surrounding buildings and minor damage to windows, but no official report of human casualties has been announced so far.
The incident comes at a time when several explosions were heard in Kabul last night; according to sources, they were caused by airstrikes by Pakistani warplanes in the capital.
