The statement states that journalists and media outlets must take steps towards the good, honor, and stability of the country with a deep understanding of their social and national responsibilities and fulfill their mission of informing and enlightening with a commitment to the professional principles of journalism.

The Union of Independent Journalists has emphasized that in dealing with individuals, political movements, and groups, the media must adhere to the principles of honesty, impartiality, balance, and accuracy of reporting, but in cases where territorial integrity, political independence, national unity, and the honor of the country are at stake, impartiality should not be interpreted as silence in the face of threats.

The statement adds that in such cases, journalists and media outlets are responsible for defending the national values and territorial integrity of Afghanistan by providing accurate information, raising awareness, promoting unity, and strengthening national spirit.

The statement reads: “The Union of Free Journalists of Afghanistan once again emphasizes the principle that a committed media is a media that works alongside the people and for the people and takes steps towards preserving the country’s honor, unity, and national identity.”
