Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to TASS, Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the special envoy of the president for economic cooperation with other countries, says that talks have begun on a tunnel project between Russia and the United States along the Bering Strait.
Dmitriev wrote on the social network "X": Talks about the tunnel are beginning.
The plan to build a 100-kilometer tunnel under the Bering Strait has been discussed for decades.
Dmitriev had previously said that the tunnel would probably be completed within eight years and its cost would not exceed eight billion dollars. According to him, this project could be a door to joint exploration of natural resources between the two countries.
US President Donald Trump said during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House that he found the idea of building the tunnel attractive.
