Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Sheikh Ikrimah Sabri emphasized yesterday (Wednesday, Oct 30) that the Israeli excavations around Al-Aqsa Mosque have caused cracks and serious damage to several historical buildings adjacent to the western wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
According to a report by the "Filestine Al-Youm" news website, Sheikh Ikrimah Sabri further added that the claim of the Israeli authorities that these excavations were carried out to strengthen the structure of the building against earthquakes is baseless and its main goal is to weaken the stability of the mosque and Zionize its surroundings.
Sabri described the actions as “a clear violation of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Islamic endowments,” and warned that the extent of damage to the walls and buildings surrounding the mosque could increase with the onset of winter.
He also stressed that the current dangers are real and tangible, especially given the daily arrival of settlers and the performance of religious rituals inside the mosque compound.
The preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque called on the Muslim and Arab nations to assume their responsibility in protecting Al-Aqsa Mosque from the threat of Judaization and the risk of destruction.
Israeli excavations around and under the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, especially in the area of the Great Wall, have been underway for decades and are being pursued with various goals.
Some of these excavations are aimed at discovering the remains of the alleged Temple of Solomon (PBUH). According to the Zionists, the alleged Temple of Solomon (PBUH) was located in the area where Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock are located today. However, after years of excavation, no evidence has been found.
Israel’s efforts to dig a tunnel under the Al-Aqsa Mosque—the primary qibla for Muslims—have raised concerns about the impact on the region’s historical and religious structures.
The Muslim community, particularly the Palestinians, are concerned that the excavations could damage the structure of Al-Aqsa Mosque and alter the status quo.
Muslims also view these actions as attempts to change the historical and religious identity of Jerusalem. The excavations under Al-Aqsa Mosque and related actions, particularly the holding of official meetings at these sites, have increased tensions in the region.
