Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: A Pakistani correspondent for the Voice of America has reported that the country’s negotiating delegation is still present in Istanbul and that talks with the Pakistani side are continuing.
Informed sources have stated that most of the fundamental issues between the two sides have been resolved and only a few limited and technical issues remain to finalize the agreement.
At the same time, Turkey and Qatar, which are playing the role of mediators in the talks, are trying to facilitate more meetings between the delegations in the coming days.
Consultations to prepare a positive and conciliatory joint statement are also continuing.
Meanwhile, informed sources have confirmed that the Afghan-Pakistani talks are likely to resume in Turkey. According to these sources, Turkey has asked the Afghan delegation to remain in the country so that the talks can continue without interruption.
The Istanbul talks are a continuation of efforts to reduce border tensions, manage traffic between the two sides, and address security issues.
Some analysts in Pakistan had previously spoken of the possibility of the talks failing, but sources close to the negotiating team insist that the atmosphere of the talks was constructive.
The active role of Turkey and Qatar in hosting and mediating is a sign of regional efforts to prevent the spread of border and security tensions.
