The overwhelming majority of Palestinians oppose the disarmament of resistance groups
The results of a new survey by the Palestinian Field Research Institute show that 69 percent of people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip strongly oppose any plan to disarm resistance groups.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Palestinian Field Research Institute announced that between October 22 and 25, it conducted 1,270 face-to-face interviews in the West Bank and Gaza Strip to examine the views of Palestinian citizens on recent developments.

The survey was conducted after Trump announced his plan regarding a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and the Zionist regime, weapons of resistance, elections, and the establishment of a Palestinian state.

According to the institute, the margin of error for the survey was ±3.5 percent, in which 830 interviews were conducted in the West Bank and 440 interviews were conducted in Gaza.

According to the poll, approximately 71 percent of Palestinians were aware of the Trump plan (75 percent in the West Bank, 65 percent in Gaza), 47 percent supported it, while 49 percent opposed it.

The poll shows that 62 percent support Hamas’ response to the Trump plan.

Regarding the disarmament of the resistance, an average of 69 percent in Gaza and the West Bank strongly opposed this issue.

70 percent of the participants in the poll expressed doubts about the plan and whether it would lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state.

62 percent also said that the plan would not permanently end the war, and almost half of the Palestinians predicted that normalization of Arab relations with the Israeli occupiers would occur even without the establishment of a Palestinian state.

68 percent also opposed the entry of Arab armed forces to ensure security and disarm the resistance.

Accordingly, 72% of Gazans have had a family member killed or injured, and most have been displaced multiple times.

87% also said they have enough food for one or two days, a significant improvement over previous surveys.

Hamas's approval rating has also reached 60%, and the approval rating of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has reached 21%.

The survey shows that attitudes toward Mahmoud Abbas are very negative; 75-83% want him to resign, and only 23% are satisfied with his performance. If presidential elections are held, Marwan Barghouti (Fatah) will be at the top of the results, followed by Khaled Meshaal (Hamas) and then Mahmoud Abbas.

Hamas will also surpass Fatah in a possible legislative election, and its support will increase in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The survey shows that 85% of Palestinians in the West Bank feel extremely insecure.

Also, 80% consider the Palestinian Authority corrupt, and 56% believe that this institution has become a burden on the people.

Accordingly, the priorities of the Palestinian people are as follows: presidential and legislative elections with the participation of Hamas (37%), a national unity government that includes all groups (31%), and immediate reconciliation with Hamas (27%).

According to this survey, the most watched satellite channels in the West Bank and Gaza are Al Jazeera with 58%, followed by Palestine Today and Al-Aqsa TV, respectively.
