Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baqaei emphasized in an interview with Al Jazeera that “Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, knows very well that our nuclear program is entirely peaceful.”
He added: “The catastrophic consequences of Rafael Grossi’s statements paved the way for the joint aggression of the US and the Zionist regime against Iran. Grossi should refrain from making baseless claims about Iran’s nuclear file.”
The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly emphasized that its nuclear activities are pursued within the framework of safeguards commitments and for entirely peaceful purposes, and that any political atmosphere created against this program lacks legal and technical validity.
In recent weeks, Grossi has expressed concerns about the state of Iran’s nuclear program in several press conferences at the UN headquarters and in media interviews. He claimed that the Agency has identified new movements at some of Iran’s nuclear sites and, in this regard, is calling for the full return of inspectors to these centers.
Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, have also warned Grossi that repeating past failed experiences will only result in another failure.
After the snapback took effect, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi explicitly stated that the Cairo agreement between Iran and the Agency on the new method of Iran’s cooperation with this organization is not effective. Ali Larijani, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, also told the media that from now on, any request the Agency makes will be reviewed by a committee in the Supreme National Security Council.
Recently, Esmail Baghaei stated in a statement that the basis of our cooperation with the Agency in the current situation is the law approved by the parliament in coordination with the Supreme National Security Council. The cases that the Agency requests must be reviewed and this will be done based on the decisions of the Supreme National Security Council.
