Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Bamyan: Jan Mohammad Haidari, technical and professional deputy of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of Ghor province, said in an interview with AVA that these competitions included light athletics in the stone throwing and tug-of-war sections, which were held by this department in Chaharsada district.
He added that 21 athletes participated in the stone throwing competition and 8 teams participated in the tug-of-war competition. In the stone throwing competition, Mohammad Zarif won first place, Nasir Ahmad won second place and Ziaullah won third place. In the tug-of-war competition, the Azadi Kamrak team won first place, the Qatadah team won second place and the Kohzad team won third place.
Haidari stated that the purpose of holding these competitions is to create an atmosphere of friendship among athletes, identify top figures for the selected district team, and promote local and national sports.
He emphasized that holding these events, in addition to strengthening sportsmanship, will also attract young people to healthy activities and prevent social deviations.
According to reports received, Ghor physical education officials plan to hold these competitions in other districts of the province and introduce top athletes to regional and national competitions. They are also trying to provide basic sports facilities, including training grounds and equipment, for local teams so that sports can be developed on a wider scale.
