Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): In an exciting match from the seventh week of the Saudi Roshan League, Al-Nasr was able to secure a 2-1 victory over Al-Fayha in the final moments with two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo. This valuable win was the seventh consecutive victory for Georges Jesus's team, who consolidated their position at the top of the table with 21 points; while Al-Taawoun is three points behind them.
The match began with Jesus making changes to the lineup compared to the previous match against Al-Ittihad. Abdul-Ilah Al-Omari replaced the injured Mohammad Simakan in the defense line, and Marcelo Brozovic returned to the midfield after missing the previous match. Al-Nasr started with Nawaf Al-Aqidi, Sultan Al-Ghannam, Al-Omari, Inigo Martinez, Nawaf Bouchel, Brozovic, Mane, Ronaldo and Kingsley Coman.
Al-Fayha, led by Pedro Emmanuel, started the game with high concentration and opened the Al-Nasr goal in the 12th minute through Jason from Spain on a quick counterattack. Al-Nasr, however, reacted quickly and after several dangerous attacks, equalized in the 37th minute with a spectacular partnership between Coman and Ronaldo; where Coman’s deep pass put Ronaldo in a scoring position and he scored his seventh goal of the season with a precise shot. The first half ended in a 1-1 draw.
In the second half, Jesus increased the pressure on his team with the entry of Abdullah Al-Khaibari, but Al-Fayha’s coherent defense prevented serious chances from being created. The opponent’s dangerous counterattacks went close to scoring several times, but the quick reaction of Sultan Al-Ghannam and goalkeeper Al-Aqidi prevented the collapse of Al-Nasr’s goal.
In the final minutes, Jesus, with attacking substitutions including Wesley Teixeira and Aaron Camara, sought to break down the opponent's closed defense. Finally, in the 12th minute of injury time, the referee, after reviewing the VAR, announced a foul on Al-Fayha defender Roy Al-Omari. Ronaldo stood behind the ball in the 14th minute of extra time and scored his second goal and the winning goal for Al-Nasr with a powerful shot, marking a dramatic victory for Al-Alami.
With this victory, Al-Nasr, while maintaining its excellent trend, gained high morale for the continuation of the league competition. Ronaldo also showed once again by scoring his tenth goal of the season, that he is still one of the most influential players in world football.
