Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The press office of the Ministry of Public Health issued a press release today (Monday, November 3) stating that Maulvi Abdul Wali Haqqani, Deputy Minister of Supply of Services of the Ministry of Public Health, met with UNICEF representatives in his office in a meeting.
According to the press release, the purpose of this meeting is to provide quality medicines and deliver them to all health centers in the center and provinces under the supervision of a joint technical committee so that this process can be implemented with complete transparency.
Maulvi Abdul Wali Haqqani emphasized in this meeting that quality domestic products and productions, which have international certificates and have been approved by the Ministry of Public Health, should be used to prevent the import of low-quality medicines.
Reports indicate that the meeting was held within the framework of a cooperation program between the Ministry of Public Health and UNICEF to strengthen the supply chain of medicines and health equipment, and the process of delivering and distributing medicines is to be recorded and controlled with a digital monitoring system to prevent corruption and shortages of medicines. Also, sources from the Ministry of Health say that paying attention to domestic production of medicines can play an important role in reducing costs and increasing people's access to safe medicines.
According to experts, cooperation between the Ministry of Public Health and UNICEF can improve the quality of health services and access to standard medicines in the country's health centers. Studies show that emphasizing the use of domestic products with global standards, in addition to reducing dependence on imports, also provides the basis for the development of the country's pharmaceutical industry. According to experts, transparency in the process of supplying and distributing medicines can increase people's trust in health services and the management of pharmaceutical resources.
