The UN Humanitarian Coordinator, expressing concern about the increase in violence in Sudan, announced that reports of executions of civilians have been received and that the city of Al-Fasher has become the main center of clashes.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Denis Brown, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, said today (Monday, November 3): "The city of Al-Fasher has become the main center of clashes and violence."
 
Brown explained in a statement: "We have been trying to enter Al-Fasher for more than 500 days and have been prevented from doing so."
 
Al-Jazeera quoted him as saying: "We have received reports of arbitrary and summary executions of civilians as they try to escape."
 
The UN official also added: "The decline in the number of people fleeing El Fasher indicates that the rapid support forces are tightening the siege."
