Afghan and Indian Foreign Ministers Hold Telephone Conversation on Relief for Earthquake Victims in Northern Afghanistan and Bilateral Relations
Following the deadly earthquake in the northern provinces of the country, Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaqi and Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar held a telephone conversation on relief for the victims and strengthening bilateral relations.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press release, Jaishankar expressed his condolences to the families of the earthquake victims and announced that India has delivered 15 tons of humanitarian aid, including food, to Afghanistan. He also promised that more shipments, including medicine and food items, will be sent to Afghanistan in the coming days.

Amir Khan Mottaqi, appreciating the solidarity and support of the Indian government, welcomed the timely delivery of relief aid and considered this action a sign of goodwill and friendly relations between the two countries.

During the phone call, the two sides also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, regional issues, and continue diplomatic engagement following the Afghan Foreign Minister's recent visit to India.

The call came as a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck the Kholm region of Balkh province last night, killing at least 20 people and injuring more than 600 others. Relief and rescue operations are still ongoing in the affected areas.
