Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The United Nations reported on Monday evening (November 3) in a report on the occurrence of acute famine in two Sudanese cities.
According to the UN's "Integrated Food Security Phase Classification" scale, the besieged cities of El Fasher and Kadugli are experiencing acute famine that will last at least until January 2026.
According to the "Sputnik" news agency, the report states that 20 other areas in the Greater Darfur region and the Greater Kordofan region are at risk of famine.
The UN explained: “The change of control of the city of El Fasher on 26 October led to widespread human suffering and further displacement of the population to the town of Tawela and other nearby areas, exacerbating humanitarian shortages in El Fasher and surrounding areas.”
