US Submits Draft Resolution to Establish Two-Year International Force in Gaza to Security Council
The Axios website reported this morning (Tuesday) that the US delegation to the UN Security Council has submitted a draft resolution to establish an international force in the Gaza Strip for two years.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Axios news and analysis website reported this morning (Tuesday, November 4) that the US has submitted a draft resolution to the UN Security Council to establish an international force in Gaza.

Based on a document it has seen, Axios wrote: “This draft gives Washington and participating countries broad authority to govern Gaza and provide security until the end of 2027.”

The report states: “The US-proposed draft resolution calls for the Gaza Peace Council to remain in place at least until the end of 2027. The draft will also form the basis for negotiations in the coming days between members of the Security Council.

The publication explained, based on the American document: “This international force will be tasked with securing Gaza’s borders with Israel and Egypt, protecting civilians and ensuring the security of humanitarian crossings.”

The report continues: “This international force will be an enforcement force, not a peacekeeping force, that will help stabilize the security environment in Gaza by ensuring the disarmament of the Gaza Strip.”

In the draft US resolution, the force’s tasks, in addition to disarming, destroying and preventing the reconstruction of military infrastructure, include training a Palestinian police force that will cooperate with it in its mission.

Axios continued: “Israeli security forces will take on other tasks that may be necessary to support the Gaza agreement.”

A US official also told the website: “Our goal is to vote on the formation of this force in the coming weeks and deploy the first troops to Gaza by January.”

He added: “This force will include soldiers from several countries and will be established in consultation with the Gaza Peace Council.”
