Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to the newspaper, Britain's move to supply long-range missiles was made to increase Ukraine's ability to launch attacks deep into Russian territory.
The Telegraph's source reported that the delivery of the new Storm Shadow missile shipments came before British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's request to Western leaders. Starmer had called for Western leaders to strengthen Ukraine's long-range capabilities to end the war.
The British newspaper wrote: "The government is not publishing the number of Storm Shadow missiles it has given to Ukraine, nor is it saying when the transfers took place, in order to maintain a degree of operational secrecy about the advanced weapon."
Ukraine relies on its own fleet of drones and missiles for deep-sea strikes against Russian targets, including oil refineries and chemical plants.
“However, the British Storm Shadow and the French Scalp-AG are the only known Western options for such strikes,” the Telegraph reported.
The Storm Shadow has a range of about 250 kilometers, slightly shorter than the range of American long-range missiles.
Last month, Ukraine announced that it had used a British long-range missile in a “successful attack” on Bryansk.
According to Kiev, the strike targeted a chemical plant in western Russia that is used to produce gunpowder, explosives and rocket fuel.
“Although the Storm Shadow is a British-made weapon, it relies on US targeting data,” the Telegraph reported.
