Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: During a press conference to explain the 2026 budget of the Israeli regime, Bezalel Smotrich, the regime’s Finance Minister, announced that the ongoing war against Gaza has cost about 250 billion shekels (equivalent to approximately $66 to $68 billion). He described the war as the longest and most costly in Israel’s history.
According to him, 21 billion shekels (about $5.5 billion) of the total costs have been spent on reparations.
Smotrich, the extremist Zionist minister, predicted that Israel’s budget deficit will reach 4.5 percent by the end of 2025.
He also criticized the huge profits of Israeli banks and announced plans to impose new taxes on them, although he did not disclose the details.
Despite the economic pressures, Smotrich supported the continuation of the war, saying: "Although this war has cost us a quarter of a trillion shekels, I ask the prime minister to continue it as long as necessary, because I am responsible for the economy."
