Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): "Musa Abu Marzouk", a member of the Hamas political bureau, stressed that based on the US plan, it will be difficult to approve the plan to establish an international force in Gaza.
Abu Marzouk told Al Jazeera Mubasher that the mediators insisted that the establishment of an international force to be deployed in Gaza be based on a Security Council resolution.
He added that neither the United States nor Israel are willing to establish these international forces based on a Security Council resolution.
The Hamas leader stressed that accepting a military force that replaces the occupying army in Gaza is unacceptable.
Abu Marzouk stated that the movement has recorded more than 190 ceasefire violations by the occupiers since the implementation of the ceasefire agreement on October 11.
He said that the Palestinian agreement and consensus stipulate that the security force in Gaza will be Palestinian and under the supervision of the Gaza Strip Administration Committee.
A member of the Hamas political bureau stated that the movement has not yet reached the second stage of the agreement, which will discuss the weapons situation in the Gaza Strip.
Abu Marzouk stated that Israel did not win the war against Gaza and that the Palestinian people did not raise the white flag of surrender after two years of genocidal war.
He concluded by saying that Hamas has agreed to have a minister affiliated with the Palestinian Authority take over the administration of the Gaza Strip to advance national interests.
The Axios website reported yesterday, citing a US official, that the draft US resolution will be the basis for negotiations among members of the UN Security Council in the coming days, with the aim of voting on the creation of an international force in the coming weeks and sending them to Gaza by January.
The US official clarified that the international security force would be an “executive force, not a peacekeeping force.”
According to the draft, the “Peace Mission” would be active until at least the end of 2027, and the international force would “enter the Gaza Strip by ensuring the demilitarization process, including the destruction and prevention of the reconstruction of military infrastructure, and the permanent disarmament of non-state armed groups.”
