Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Reuters reported that Saudi Arabia's request to purchase 48 F-35 fighters from the United States, one of the world's most advanced stealth fighters, has reached key obstacles at the Pentagon and has passed the initial stages of approval.
The report added that the Saudi request, which came on the eve of Mohammed bin Salman's visit to Washington, could change the military balance in the West Asian region and raise concerns about maintaining the "qualitative military superiority" of the Zionist regime.
Reuters emphasizes that Saudi Arabia has long sought to purchase these fighter jets to modernize its air force and counter regional threats, especially from Iran. The report added that the deal has not yet received final approval and may face political and legal challenges in the United States.
