Sudan Drenched in Blood; 40 People Killed at Funeral
Following a new wave of violence in Sudan, a deadly attack on a funeral in the strategic city of Al-Abyad in North Kordofan state left at least 40 dead and dozens injured.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced today (Wednesday, November 5) that the deadly attack on a group of civilians occurred at a funeral in the city of Al-Abyad, the capital of North Kordofan state.

According to the Hurriyet newspaper, the organization has not yet specified when or by which group the attack was carried out, but said the humanitarian situation in the region is “worse than ever.”

The conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia has left tens of thousands dead and millions displaced since 2023.

Local sources say that RSF militants are now preparing to launch a major offensive in Kordofan after seizing the town of Al-Fasher, the last army base in West Darfur.

The UN stressed in a statement: “We once again call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and for all parties to respect international humanitarian law.”

Meanwhile, field reports indicate an increase in violence against civilians.

Doctors Without Borders also announced that more than 300 victims of sexual violence have visited its medical centers in recent days in the Tawila area, near the Zamzam refugee camp.

The UN has warned that Sudan is on the verge of a full-scale humanitarian catastrophe as the fighting spreads to new areas.
