The electoral silence period begins in Iraq
After a month of extensive and costly advertising, election activities were suspended throughout Iraq at 7 am today (Saturday) and the electoral silence period began.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): All Iraqi electoral groups held their last carnivals and election campaigns in the few days remaining to the electoral silence, so that the country will enter electoral silence from this morning (Saturday, November 8), and from now on everyone is waiting for the voting and announcement of the election results to determine the winners of the sixth round of Iraqi parliamentary elections.

According to the announcement of the Independent High Election Commission in Iraq, the electoral silence began at 7 am this Saturday and will continue until the end of the general vote, which will be held on Tuesday of this week, and any election campaigning during this period for candidates and electoral groups is a violation of the regulations, and legal measures will be taken against violators.

The Iraqi Communications and Media Commission has called on all candidates and electoral groups to adhere to electoral silence and refrain from violating the regulations during this period.

The commission announced that it is monitoring all websites and media outlets in coordination with the Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq to prevent violations of the regulations during the electoral silence period.

The Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq also announced that the total number of candidates for the sixth round of Iraqi parliamentary elections is 7,744 candidates and has disqualified 848 candidates from the electoral race.

He stated that the number of media outlets that will cover the Iraqi elections is 1,500, including television networks, news agencies, and publications.

It is expected that special voting will be held tomorrow, Sunday, for security forces and military personnel, prisoners, hospitalized patients, and displaced persons in camps. According to the Independent High Election Commission, more than 1,313,000 voters will cast their votes in 809 polling centers.

Unlike previous elections, when elections were usually held amid strict security measures and the imposition of curfews, security measures are flexible this time and strict curfews are not imposed in cities.

The parliamentary elections are considered the most important elections in Iraq because, in addition to electing 329 members of parliament, the Iraqi parliament is responsible for electing the president in the first session of parliament. The president is required to appoint a prime minister candidate from among the largest parliamentary faction to form the government cabinet in the first session of parliament. After selecting the members of his government team, the prime minister must introduce his ministers to parliament to obtain a vote of confidence. If a vote of confidence is granted, the government can begin its official activities for the next four years.
