Iran, Russia Agree to Establish First Joint Maritime Consortium
Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali announced that Tehran and Moscow have reached an agreement to establish the “first joint maritime transport consortium.”
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Jalali announced in a message on the X social network that following a meeting between the heads of the Ports and Maritime Organizations, senior government managers, and managers of large private sector companies in the two countries on November 5 and 6 in Makhachkala, the two sides reached an agreement to establish a joint maritime transport consortium.

The Iranian ambassador to Moscow added: “In this event, the structure and framework of this consortium were agreed upon, and it was decided that its details and official text will be negotiated, drafted, and announced within a maximum of one month. This consortium will pursue the mission of comprehensively expanding trade, transit, and combined transport between the two countries as a strategic goal.”

Earlier, the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization announced a new agreement with Russia to develop combined and maritime transport.

The agreement was reached during a meeting in Moscow between Saeed Rasouli, CEO of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization, and Dmitry Zverev, Deputy Minister of Transport, and Alexei Tarasenko, Head of the Russian Federal Agency for Sea and River Transport. Based on these talks, the two countries emphasized the need to form a joint port-maritime consortium to increase the level of trade exchanges between Iran and Russia through coordination in Caspian ports and shipping lines.
