Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Herat: Officials of the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines announced that following the implementation of the 30 percent wage increase plan, 100 factories in the industrial city have so far increased their workers’ salaries. This decision was taken in order to support the workforce, especially newly returned migrants.
Mohammad Nasser Amin, head of the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines, stated in an interview with the media that the aim of this move is to support workers and create motivation to continue production activities within the country. He added: “We are trying to ensure that all factories operating in the industrial city join this trend and raise the level of wages in line with the living needs of workers.”
According to Mr. Amin, a large part of the workers in these factories are newly returned immigrants, and the Chamber of Industries and Mines is trying to provide employment and income for other immigrants.
Meanwhile, a number of workers in the Herat Industrial City have welcomed this decision and described it as a positive step in improving their economic and livelihood situation.
According to the Chamber of Industries and Mines, after the forced return of immigrants from neighboring countries, more than 13,900 of them have been provided with work and employment in the Herat Industrial City.
The officials of this chamber also announced that more than 150,000 workers are currently working in active companies in the Herat Industrial City; a statistic that indicates the high capacity of this city in attracting human resources and strengthening domestic production.
