Ahead of his meeting with the US President, Syrian interim president Ahmed al-Sharaa called for the creation of a new security and political path between Syria and the Zionist regime through Washington's mediation and announced the start of negotiations in this regard.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Syrian interim president Ahmed al-Sharaa announced on Sunday during a meeting with the heads of Syrian-American institutions in Washington that negotiations for a new security agreement with the Zionist regime are underway. He emphasized that Syria has demanded Israel return to its pre-December 8 borders.

According to Al-Arabiya, al-Sharaa arrived in Washington with Asaad al-Shaibani, the foreign minister of the interim Syrian government, to meet with Syrian citizens. He stated that the purpose of the trip was to stabilize Syria's southern front and prepare for the reconstruction phase.

Al-Shara also announced progress in the case of lifting sanctions on Syria, saying that the final results of this process will be known in the next two days, after a meeting with Donald Trump and a number of American lawmakers.

In the domestic sphere, he considered the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the army as a natural solution to the Syrian crisis, adding that the American side is cooperating in this regard.

In response to the recent events in Suwayda, Al-Shara claimed that some local groups have allied with drug traffickers and remnants of the former regime and are trying to disrupt the stabilization process.

At the same time, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced in a statement that significant amounts of explosives and weapons were discovered in security operations against the ISIS terrorist group. The group planned to carry out operations in several areas that threatened the security of civilians.

The visit took place after the US and Britain lifted sanctions imposed on Abu Muhammad al-Julani and Anas Khattab, the Syrian Minister of Interior. The Security Council recently removed the names of these two figures from the international sanctions list, with the agreement of 14 members.

The Syrian Association, a Syrian-American organization, announced that efforts to strengthen negotiations on the future of Syria and the role of minorities in the next phase are continuing.
