Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The American newspaper Washington Post, referring to the entry of the aircraft carrier "USS Gerald R. Ford" into the waters of the Caribbean Sea, wrote: Venezuela has put all its armed forces on alert.
This American media outlet assessed the increased US military presence on the Venezuelan borders as a sign of the increasing possibility of expanding US military operations in the Caribbean Sea, and wrote: Washington may target Venezuelan military bases and airfields.
Despite US officials announcing their intention to increase their military presence in the Caribbean to combat drug trafficking, Latin American leaders, including Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, have called for all countries in the region to be prepared to respond to any US adventurism.
French Foreign Minister: US actions in the Caribbean violate international law
According to Reuters, Jean-Noel Barrow, speaking on the sidelines of the G7 foreign ministers' meeting in Canada, warned that the recent US military operations in the Caribbean are contrary to the principles of international law.
He added: Paris is following these developments with concern, because the region is home to more than a million French citizens and any tension could endanger their security.
The US has so far carried out at least 19 attacks on vessels suspected of drug trafficking in the Caribbean and the Pacific coast, killing 76 people.
